Happy 4th Stampendous Style

Patriot-bee-trio Happy 4th of July to all of my American friends!  This is a combo of a couple of different Stampendous stamps.  (BTW, did you notice that I was the guest stamper on the Stampendous Impressions blog a couple of days back??  Hehe)

The bees are a cling stamp called Bee Trio.  I decked them out in patriotic colors then added a sign to ones hand with a piece from "Freedom Cupcakes" a cling set.  Its popped up with a couple of dimensionals.  The background on the red layer is stamped with a background stamp from the same "Freedom Cupcakes" set in StazOn white, but it wasn't dark enough for me so I went over the image with my Signo uni-ball white pen.

The flower is also dotted with the same pen to add a bit of somun' somun' to it too.  The bees wings are covered with white ultrafine pearl glitter (also by Stampendous) and the antenae are dotted with Christmas red stickles  (I need some red glitter I guess)

Bee-trio-close Here's a closeup of the flower, the wings, and the enhanced background stamping.  Supplies are listed below.  Layout for the card is this weeks sketch over at Our Creative Corner.

Thanks for visiting today!  Have a great holiday weekend and try to stay cool :)   -Cyndi

Stampendous Glitters with Acetate Tutorial

Glitter & Acetate Tutorial

Glitter1

1.     Gather all the supplies you will need.

Stamps, Acetate sheets, stazOn pad (& cleaner), glitter, glue & lots of scrap paper!  I used Stampendous Glitters for this sample in pearl Lavender, pearl Mint Green, and pearl Melon.  I also used Sunny Flowers Stampendous  stamps.

Glitter2

2.    You will want to use a StazOn pad for this technique so that you get a good impression on the acetate.  Make sure your pad is really inky!  The acetate will stick to your stamp so be sure to gently peel it off so that you don’t smear the image.  If your image is too wet, simply blot it off on some scrap paper.  Don’t forget to use the StazOn cleaner to clean your clear stamps immediately since acrylic stamps do not like solvent inks!  I clean mine then rinse them in a bowl of warm water with  a bit of dish soap to get the cleaner off too!

IMG_8865

3.    Flip the image over, you will be applying the glitter to the back side of where you stamped  (This way you can still see the black lines clearly when its done)  You want to do one section at a time with the glitters.  The glue will dry enough to work with additional colors within a few minutes, but I will skip adjacent sections, then come back to them after a bit of drying time.  Apply your glue sparingly, but be sure to cover every bit of open space within the section of the image you are working on.  Do a small section at a time. Also, You will want to go all the way up to or even onto the black lines, as the glue will shrink in a bit after it is dry.  (I used PVA glue by Kay Kraft, that was what was recommended to me and it dries pretty fast…about 4 hours to total hard-as-a-rock dry…and dries clear.  Other glues such as Aleene’s or Crystal Effects should be fine, but dry time may differ)

Glitter4

4.    When you add the glitter, overcoat the image.  (Do this over a scrap sheet of paper so that later you can funnel it back into your container).  I will then lightly press with my fingers on top of the glitter so that I am sure its adhered.  Then shake and tap off the excess.  Don’t be afraid, it won’t fall off!

A   5.  After your area is glittered you can clean it up a bit by brushing the surrounding areas off with a flat brush  (Don’t get too close to the glitter yet…)  Also you can use a flat rounded object to scooch the glitter back into the lines if you went out a bit (you need to do this while its still wet!)

Glitter5

Glitter6

6.    Keep moving to the next area until the image is complete.  Let the image dry completely before trying to trim the acetate.  Also once the image is really dry you can run that same brush all around the acetate, even up next to the glittered  areas to really clean it up.  Total dry time will vary, but you will know its done when you can see the glitter color clearly through the other side.  (It will appear white until dry) And once its hard you know its done!

Glitter7 Back view (glitter side up)

Glitter8 Front view wet (ink side up)

That’s the basics!  All you have to do is complete the card…now you try one! Here are some of the samples that I created.

Blue-glitter This is the card that I finished using the piece for the tutorial.  The pale  green (Melon) is a bit hard to see (its in the center around the purple dots), but if I tilt the card to see the color, the flash hits the acetate wrong and creates a glare.  Hmmm.

I cut the acetate piece to a small rectangle, then mounted that on a piece of Salt Dotted Swiss Bazzill (The image is glued on to glitter parts so that it doesn't show through.

I also stamped, glittered and cut out 2 separate leaves on scrap acetate then stuck them behind the flower image.

Smile-marigold

One more sample for you today.  This one uses the same flower image from Sunny Flowers by Stampendous.  I used Stampendous Tigerlily and Sunflower  pearl glitters for this one.  After the image was dry I added black glitter to the front of the piece on the dots for added interest.

The background paper is Bo Bunny from the Love Shack collection.  I stamped some flowers over the corners from a different Stampendous set...Jumbo Flower... then also added black glitter to the centers of those.

I hope this was helpful for you!  If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or email me!  Thanks for stopping by today!    -Cyndi

Stampendous Rocks!!

OK, so do you remember when I posted a couple of weeks back my glitter/acetate cards from a class that I taught?  Well, I received a comment from Laura Weed over at Stampendous thanking me for featuring their glitters.  Eeekkk!  Well, I emailed her back and said I would really feature my favorite  glitters and some Stampendous images on a tutorial.  And guess what??  She sent me a big box of fabulous Stampendous goodies!!  Thanks you!!

So, I finally have my tutorial ready to go but wanted to do a separate post telling you all how much I love Stampendous  (you know from previous posts... the cute Changito monkey, Fluffles the cat, and Chickies....there are sooooo many more cute images, I just can't afford to buy them all)

Pink-mum So here is a peekie at a card I made using this technique.   Tuturial will follow in the next few days...so check back!!

I used Mum Messages clear stamps from Stampendous.  The image is stamped on Acetate with Staz On and glittered on the back with Stampendous pearlized glitters in white and Rose.  The acetate is mounted directly onto the pattern paper (from K & co) with some brads in the corners.  Tag is part of a Ribbon tag nestabilitie, I just cut off one end.

So be sure to come back for more glittery goodness this week!  Thanks for dropping by today    -Cyndi

Weiman Wranglers

A few days ago Melissa at Pink Cat Studio released some new digi-images of Billy and Lily called Weiman Wranglers.  Read on below to find out about these special stamps.

PCS_WeimanWranglers

Here is what Melissa wrote on the PCS blog:

"Today we are releasing these new digital stamps to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of Ethan Weiman. Little Ethan passed away on June 12th from Neuroblastoma cancer. Ethan was a true cowboy and loved horses, balloons and Knock Knock jokes. By purchasing these digital stamps you will help brighten the day of a sick child as the money we raise will go towards making one of their dreams come true.

Please visit http://www.pinkcatstudio.com/Stamps/WeimanWranglers/WeimanWranglers.htm to purchase these digital stamps and help the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Last week Lauren Meader, a member of my DT, contacted me to ask if I could make some digi stamps to help raise some money in order to honor Ethan and the Weiman family. I thought that was such a wonderful idea and got right to designing. Lauren told me that Ethan loved my Cowboy Billy stamp so she suggested that I design a new Cowboy stamp for Ethan and one for his little sister Ava too. Ethan loved horses and balloons so that is how we came up with the design of the kiddies riding their horses and holding a balloon.

We would be so grateful if you would help us to raise some money in Ethan’s honor. All proceeds from the sale of the stamps, after Paypal fees are deducted, will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois as requested by Alicia and Dave Weiman."

I downloaded the stamps and have a card with Lily to share with you today.
Weiman-wrangler

As I said its been a full week, so not too complicted.  I used last weeks challenge from Cute Card Thursday...to do a tag. And this weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge is to use a download!  Papers are from Creative Imagination, charm is Karen Foster.

So here you go :)  Be sure to check out the link and order these adorable stamps for a great cause.  So far PCS has raised over $1500 for the Make a Wish Foundation!

Thanks for stopping in today!  I will be scarce tomorrow....I finally get to go to Durham and get Copic certified.....WooHoo!!!!!!

Some Rileys and Hanna

The-little-things  I noticed Hanna Stamps was having a call for guest DTs for the next few months so I thought, why not?  Here's a few of my cards :)   (Link for the call is below)

This is Garden Riley Moose (actually I made him into Sophie Moose with the shocking pink gardening boots, snort!  I pulled my colors from this wild and funky paper from K & Co that I got at Michael's.  The background for the card is a piece of Core'dinations so the back is different than the front...so that means when its folded the inside becomes a different color.  Cool, huh?  So I let a bit of the inside show through by cutting off part of the top.  Sentiment is from Unity (but it was in with the wrong kit so I'm not sure which its from???).

  • Supplies:

  • Stamps: Garden Riley Moose (Hanna Stamps); sentiment (Unity)

  • Paper: carolyn Gavin collection (K & Co); brown/teal cs (Core'dinations); white cs (Neenah)

  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo black

  • Accessories: Labels 2 Nestabilties (Spellbinders); flourish (Quickkutz); flowers (Prima); brads (Basic Grey); copics

Hammock-riley Next up is Hammock Riley Moose.  He cracks me up...just hanging out with nothing better to do all day!   I have closeups below and you can see I added some green Smooch to the palm trees and Riley was stamped twice and popped up so he's really "swinging" from the Hammock.

At the bottom I placed the sentiment (from A Muse) over a couple of punches including one section of a new EK Success border punch.

RileycloseFinally I added a bunch of loose Stampendous glitter to the card...both on top of the brad and then along the bottom of the top panel.  Riley-close-2

  • Supplies:

  • Stamps: Hammock Riley Moose (Hanna Stamps); Life's a breeze (A Muse)

  • Paper: pp (Reminisce); Green Galore , Temping Turquoise cs (SU!); white cs (SU!)

  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)

  • Accessories: Green smooch (Clearsnap); brad (Basic Grey); glitter (Stampendous); flowers (Prima); Labels 3 Nestabilites (Spellbinders); oval & circle punches, turquoise ribbon (SU!); border punch (EK Success); copics; melon & orange glitter pens (copic); dimensionals

Rain-hanna  Last I have  Rainy Day Hanna for you.  She is paired perfectly with the Piggy Tales paper "Rain, Rain go away"  I colored her in to match with copics, added a bit of yellow stickles to her funky rain boots and some Eucalyptus to the umbrella.

Ok, so thats it for now...my hand hurst from typing and I want to stamp!!  Check out the Guest DT call forum over at Splitcoast HERE for more Hanna samples and to enter for yourself...theres still a few more days!

Thanks for visiting today!  -Cyndi

  • Supplies:

  • Stamps: Rain Day (Hanna Stamps)

Sporty Billy stamps available today!

Today is the big day!  The new Sporty Billy set is finally available at Pink Cat Studio!  So, what are you waiting for??  Here's a peek at the whole set:

PCS_SportyBilly_Release

Is he the cutest or what?? I have a couple of samples for you today too :)

This is Surfer Billy...Duuuude.  Looks like he's having a blast with his pal.

Billy is stamped on white then colored with copics and cut out and popped up.  All the layers are from a Deja' Vus mini kit....Mango.  The palm tree is from Autumn Leaves (Mindy's Zoo set), buttons are Basic Grey.  I inked all the layers with cats eye chalks ink...Lime pastel, Tangerine, and Yellow citrus.

Surfer-dude-billy Football-hanger-Cyndi

I picked up this plain wooden door hanger at Micahel's and thought it would be cute done up to match Michael's room.  So I covered it with paper from K&Co....more of the Rough & Tumble pad.  Then I stamped Billy and cut him out and matted him on a couple of coordianting solids.

His name was cut out with my Cricut...dots were hand-doodled.  Buttons are from Basic Grey and the ribbon was from a designer pack from SU! a while back.

Michael hasn't actually started playing football yet, just with the neighboorhood boys, but maybe this fall :)

OK, so thats it for today!  First day out of school for the kiddos, and they are itching to get to the pool!  (well, Rachael is on swim team and already there, LOL...but Michael is begging to go today!)

Have a great day and don't forget to head to Pink Cat Studio for your new Billy stamps!!

SCORE!

Baseball-Billy-open I'm back with more of my best bud Billy!  He's new from Pink Cat Studio and will be released tomorrow!!  Here's baseball Billy and his tag-along catcher, hehe!!

For this card I was in the mood for a kick-stand card.  The top of the card base  is cut away a bit at the bottom, then the main panel extends so that it forms a kick-stand.

I used the same K & Co papers again...the colors were bright and fun and very sporty looking :)  The large baseball is actually a coordinating K& Co sticker that I stuck over the baseball stamped image to make it look really big and coming right off the card.

More of the ribbon slides again too, but this time I used one of the sentiments from the set and adhered it right over the slide for just a bit of depth and interest behind the sentiment.

Baseball-Billy-flat  Here's the card laying flat so its a bit easier to see.   Supplies are listed below, so scroll down for that.  And again today....more awesome samples over at the Pink Cat Studio blog by the DT...so what are you waiting for??  Head on over!!

Thanks for stopping into my ballpark...have a great Tuesday!  -Cyndi

Football anyone?

Football-Billy-Cyndi Its sneak peek time at Pink Cat Studio!  Today I get to show you Football Billy (well, American Football that is!)

I fell in love with the Billy images from the first release of them last fall since I have a little boy and it is soooo hard to find boy stamps!  But I really  LOVE the sports themes!!  My little guy is all boy and loves all sports :)

For this card I stamped Billy (and I kept him attatched to the little dogs in all of my stamps when I cut them out.  They could easily be separated, but I chose not to) and then stamped the "8" on his Jersey.  The set includes all digits to make your own jersey numbers...cool!!

He's colored to match my bg papers which are from a variety of companies (see below).  There is actually a really cute "touchdown" sentiment in the set (as well as lots of other words) but I found these cute ribbon slide charms at work and thought they were just too perfect!

The rest of the card is pretty self-explanatory and supplies are listed below.  I'll have more Billy for you over the next 2 days, so be sure to check back in!  Also, hop on over to the Pink Cat Studio blog  and see all the other fabbo samples the DT created for today!  Thanks for visiting and don't forget to say hi!  -Cyndi

  • Supplies:

  • Stamps: Sporty Billy (Pink Cat Studio)

Life's Uncertain

OK, back as promised with blog candy winner... Random.org picked #16...Pamela C!  Pamela email me with your snail mail and I'll get the package out to you!

Life's-uncertain

Next up...here's a bit of Fluffles humor for you.  The sentiment reads "Life's uncertain...eat dessert FIRST!"  Bwaaahaha!  I just love this cat.  He reminds me of all my 3 cats and their antics, but mostly of my little stupid cat Starbuck.  (Not named for coffee but for the pilot from Battlestar)

Fluffles is from Stampendous.  Although we carry them at the shop (Enchanted Cottage) we don't have a huge selection, so this one I got from Betty.  Its one of those nifty cool cling mount stamps (unmounted but with the image on the reverse so you can really SEE where it will stamp!)

The image is all one stamp, so then I cut it out with my coluzzle so I could maintain the tail...can't be cutting out Fluffles' tail.  Its colored with copics, then I added glitter to the ballon and cake and candles.  I am totally in love with this Stampendous glitter that I bought for my glitter & acetate card class!  These 2 colors are from the Pearl glitter collection...shimmery yet not overly sparkly.  Just yummy.

That awesome border at the bottom was done with a new EK border punch that embosses too... this piece was actually cut from the throwawy white strip at the bottom of a sheet of pp...DUH!

ok, now on to this weeks Summer Reading recommendation...

How about the best humor you have ever read, throw in some gory murders, off-the-wall characters, and just enough sexual tension to keep you reading just one more chapter.  Try Janet Evanovitch's Stephanie Plum series...first in the series is "One for the Money".  I have been reading these books for years and unfortunately hold all other humor writers to her huge standards.  There are over a dozen of these to keep you reading for a couple of weeks at least, LOL.  BUT, warning...lots of language in these babies...so be prepared.

Alrighty, I am signing off for the day.  Have a great week, check in tomorrow for Pink Cat Studio peeks!  Thanks for visiting!  -Cyndi

  • Supplies:

  • Stamps: Full Fluffles (Stampendous)

  • Paper: Carolyn Gavin Greenhouse pp (K & Co); Soft Sky cs (SU!); chocolate, white  cs (PTI)

  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo black (Tsukineko)

  • Accessories: Mint Green & Sunflower Pearl Glitter (Stampendous); Quickie Glue pen (Sakura); coluzzle; border punch (EK Success); white tafetta ribbon (SU!); markers (Copic)

Scrappy Sunday

Happy Sunday!  Its been a busy weekend around here with end-of-the-year parties at school, bday parties, summer kick-off, baseball...etc.  Just a party weekend.  I am pooped.

Before the page... a couple of things.  I'll announce the blog candy winner later today and I will have a card for you then too :)  (Also my new weekly Summer reading recommendation)

Tomorrow starts Sports Billy previews for Pink Cat Studioso don't forget to check back then too!

And we went to see Up! yesterday.  Wow!  It was great...totally not just a kids movie.  BTW, This opened for the Cannes Film Festival for those of you who hadn't heard.  I laughed, I cried and now I want to see it again :)

You-rock-pages  So heres your pages for Scrappy Sunday :)  Everyone seems to want more scrapbook layouts from me!  This is one of the 2 sets that we made at my last SU! club.  Paper is Rockabilly pp. (features Black, white, Kiwi, and Riding hood red colors)

I cut the white edge with jumbo scallop scissors.  Skull and accessories are from the Just Jawing set.  Hearts were cut with my Spellbinders heart Nestabilites, arrows were punched with the SU! my way punch, and stars are using the jumbo star punch.  Flower is from  a new fun pack from Prima (found at Michale's) , and buttons are asst from my stash.  (Click on the page to enlarge for a better look)

Glitter is chunky glitter from SU! applied with PVA glue.  I think that was is for supplies besides (corner rounder, dimensionals, glue dots, asst SU! ribbon, and labels 1 nestabilites)

ok, more later.  Have a fun sunny afternoon!  -Cyndi

Birthday cupcakes & birds

Bday-waterfall I have some more class cards for you tonight.  These are all somewhat "interactive" cards...they all pull, have a hidden panel, or a pocket with an insert.  The first is a waterfall card...made with Hero Arts Clear Design stamps (Birthday Cupcakes) and Bo Bunny Its My Party papers.  Images are colored with copics, but I also used my spica glitter pens and a red Sakura glaze pen on the cherry.

Double dot paper and dotted ribbon are also Bo Bunny, brads are Bazzill.

Bday-birds

Next is a double fold card using more of the same Bo Bunny Its my Party paer, and also Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper.  The Three Birds stamp is also from Hero Arts.  I added some doodling around the border to match the arrow doodles on the bottom bird.  The top panel is held closed with the button/bow combo at the bottom.

Pocket-frog
