Christmas in May?/ Scrapbook Club Kits

I haven't scrapbooked for myself in SOOOO long!  In November I was caught up to that point in my family album (I know, that's impossible you say).  So, I wasn't in a big hurry to scrap Christmas and such.  But with the Fundraiser in February, and then the move in April, I fell behind a few months.  I uploaded a few hundred photos to Walgreen's over the weekend, and of the ones that were laying out I felt most inspired by the Christmas shots.  What can I say, everyone is happy and wants to be in pictures?!  This layout is my favorite of the 5 spreads I finished today.  I used a kit I ordered online that was by Memories Complete.  Everything is from their line except the Bazzill and the Junkitz buttons used on the title.  In fact, I loved this layout so much I decided to use the rest of the kit for another spread while in the mood.  The next one is Michael and Santa.  Same products, no additions.

So while in the holiday sprit I did afew more layouts.  The next one is from a Mosh Posh kit I think???  It had Basic Grey "Fruitcake" patterned paper and then a bunch of stuff that coordinated.  I love these kits, they are a no brainer...you have all the stuff you need including background cardstock, embellishments, and rubons or stamps or stickers for a title.  It all coordinates!  How cool.  Anyway, in the kit was a pack of glittery red alphabet stickers by Making Memories, and a box of chipboard, "Shimmer Shapes" by Scrapworks, along with misc. ribbon, some poinsettia primas ?? and big rhinestones.  Fun stuff, and stuff I wouldn't normally buy, so its neat to sit down and make yourself create something with the products at hand.

And finally, the last page is using SEI "Doodleydoo Holiday".  I got this stuff at a local scrapbook store, the cardstock and matching diecuts all together.  If you like the idea of these kits there are a ton to choose from, mainly "Kit of the Month" Clubs, but some offer 1 time purchase options.  The nice thing about joining is you are gauranteed the kit each month and you know they won't sell out before the end of the day its posted!

Look at what came to visit at the new house on Friday!  I walked out under the sunroom to see the kitty and this HUGE snapper turtle was laying right up on his blanket in the corner.  Luckily, the foreman from my builder's crew was here finishing up a wall in the back yard.  He called his buddy Albert who couldn't wait to come get the turtle.  Thank goodness, cause it was one angry turtle!  Look at the closeup of his face when he's being held up by the tail...yikes!!  Well, as if that wasn't enough, this big ol' fella came out of his nest to see what all the commotion was about.  He was nearly 8 or 9 feet long and 2-3 inches in diameter...EEwwww!!  Get both of these creatures away from my house!  The builders/cement guys (we had drawn about 5 of them by now)  thought it would be funny to pit the snake against the turtle and see who came out on top.   And men think we find silly things funny and entertaining.  ROFL  Well, they took the turtle home and left the snake to scare off other snakes (thanks guys).   Oh yeah, I also found a present from my cat that morning...what appeared to have been a small mouse...  Not my day at all.  I think I'll avoid the backyard for awhile.

New pages in Photo Albums

Here are a couple of the latest pages I uploaded earlier.  There are moe in both the class pages album and the scrapbook pages album.  This one was inspired by a card I found on someone's blog last month. I loved the doodle this set stamped on glossy then burnished with the sponge daubers.  Sets use: Doodle This and Doodle That by Stampin' Up!  Colors are Taken with Teal, Rose Red, Old Olive, and Summer Sun (which didn't show up very well so I went over it with Rose Red and anded up with a light Pumpkin kind-of color)

My space

I am finally uploading more photos from my scraproom!  It is so very cool, but still not enough storage sace!  I've spent quite a bit on matching baskets and bins so it will look more put together than my old hodgepodge of containers and shelves.  I know I still need to get more and change a few more things around, but for now it'll work.  In the middle of my work end of the room is my island.  This so totally rocks!! Its built at counter height since I always end up standing when I'm working.  It was a tough decision to make, but I'm so glad I went with this!!  I have a spot on both sides (actually all 4) so I can sit at my barstool if I want.  Within reach I have shelves with slideout baskets.  This is the part I want to streamline so it looks all neat and pretty like the shelves behind it.  For now though, I have all of my basic tools that I use every day in a basket on the top shelf.  It can slide out like a drawer or I can sit it on the countertop.  My trimmer, rulers, wheel guides, etc are stored beside it on the shelf.  To the shelf beside that I have other tools that I don't as fequently.  Alsoon my working side of the island is a basket for ribbon rolls, a whole shelf dedicated to scrap storage, a basket of stickers and die cut stuff, and drawers with other color goodies like wc pencils, wc crayons, reinkers, sponges, daubers,etc

The ribbon rolls are my non-SU full or almost full rolls, plus the ribbon original cards from SU fit perfectly to the side.  MY SY  ribbon are in the ribbon keepers that we sell, located temporarily on ashelf, but I don't like them there.  Ribbon scraps as well as yardage I bought are stored in jars on the shelf.  The big pieces (1 yard+ cuts) are rolled on old fashioned clothespins.   My scraps are stored all together now woohoo!! on a handy shelf.  If the piece is less than cardfront size it goes into the black box on the bottom (not show but it has dividers for every color).  The neutral scraps go in the other black box on top.  Anything that is bigger than card size but smaller than a full sheet gets stored in the magazine holders on the right of the picture.  They are sorted by color as well, but not divided.  More pics and info later ;)

New Scrapbook Room Teaser

We are in the new house finally!  Well, actually we've been moved in a few weeks now. I felt obligated to unpack the rest of the house before I started to organize my space.  I have actually done a couple of clubs and a couple of shows since the move, but I still haven't been able to simply sit in my new space and stamp just for me!  I'm uploading a couple of pics of the room as a teaser, and I'll have to take some more before I can upload them.

I have a HUGE room.  One end is open for nothing but tables for classes.  The other end is my office space.  I have 8 feet of shelves on one wall (floor to ceiling) and 4 feet on another wall.  The smaller unit houses my completed scrapbooks and mini albums, magazines, old catalogs and idea books, and photo overflow.  I still want to reorganize it a bit so it looks a little neater.

The other wall holds almost everything else, LOL.  Actually its just my consumables now.  I have changed it a bit since this pic, I'll send through the updated one later.  I'll also tell you then how its all sorted and stored.
