The Scrappy Chick

Seriously Sweet!

This has got to be one of my absolute favorite cards that I've ever made!!  The idea started as a scrapbook page (hint: here's another peek from the girl track for the fundraiser) then I thought it would be a fun card too!

I had Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday sketch in my head (you can see it here at her blog--->Poetic Artistry) and even though it didn't really follow the sketch, I have to give her credit for putting the idea into my head!!

For the card, the base is Basic Black.  The strip layers are Soft Sky (stamped with the heart from Priceless in Sky); Purely Pomegranate; and Certainly Celery (stamped with the swirl from Priceless in Basic Black).  There is a thin strip over all those in black, with 2 itty bitty ice rhinestone brads in green.  The main panel is stamped on white with Pomegranate ink using the set Seriously Sassy.  I also stamped the crown/sweet image in black on a separate sheet, then cut out the sweet and adhered it to the Seriously piece.  I added a butterfly, which is raised on the wings, also from the Priceless set.   This piece was backed on Pomegranate and then on Black with a final addition of a knot of wide celery grosgrain, dbl stitched pomegranate, and Black gingham glued on to the corner.

Magic carpet Ride

Here are a couple of more layouts from our last trip to Disney.  This page came together really easy once I picked out some DP to go with it.  I knew I wanted to use the jasmine sticker that I had bought som e time back,and ended up pulling put some Bazzill cs and Daisy D's pattern paper from a scrapbook kit.  The paper is from the Girlfriend collection.   I cut the circles with my Coluzzle.  I also added some flowers from my stash and a jumbo Doodlebug brad and some pretty May Arts ribbon.  The title was cut using my Cuttlebug.

The next layout is Woody and Jesse, over at Al's Toy Barn.  I threw together some asst paper from my stash (cow print and Bandana) with the Kraft background for a start, then pulled oyut the colors of the photos for the rest of the cs.  (Real Red, Ballet Blue, & Summer Sun)

It still wasn't quite enough umph, so I backed it all on black cs too.  Again, the letters are done with my Cuttlebug, and I had  aWoody sticker laying around.  Pretty simple layout, but I think it turned out cute!

SFYTT You Make me Happy!

  This card makes me happy!  I love the colors :)  I had bought a pack of paper from Michael's the other day and loved these colors together.  The orange was a bit more muted than mine, but it still works!

I used Jen del Muro's Sketch for you to Try from this last Saturday.  You can see the sketch and her card on her blog ----> i {heart} 2 stamp.  And hey, I actually kept the sketch as it was supposed to be, amazing!  I used all Stampin' Up! products for this card.  For the background I stamped the small flowers from Boho Backgrounds on Whisper White Craft ink on Purely Pomegranate.  That was then backed on Certainly Celery and then the card base of Basic Black. 

The main panel is the large flower from One of A Kind, stamped in black on the base, then also in Pomegranate and Pumpkin then cut out and layered over the black.  I also stamped the flower trio in Pumpkin and Pomegranate, using the small flowers for the little celery strip at the bottom, and one of the larger flowers for the top layer on the big flower panel.  (These were punched with the Boho Blossom punch)  All of the flowers have a black mini brad in the center of them.  The sentiment is from one of the stamps in Boho Backgrounds.  It was slightly too long for the word window punch, so I cut it into a skinny strip then punched it inserting it into the center of the Word Window Punch on both ends.The card was finished with a piece of Wide Celery Grosgrain ribbon and Black gingham knotted into it.

Today's peek...sun fun!

Off to the beach or hanging out by the pool?  This layout will be great for either!  This is peek 2 from the "Water" track for the fundraiser.  I used Life's a Breeze stamp set with Pumpkin Pie, Real Red (not shown here), Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore cs and pads and Basic Black ink (for edging) and Kraft cardstock.  also the new yummy striped Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon.  Stay tuned for more peeks, and don't forget to register for my local stamping friends!

WSC32 Birthday Whimsy

Still on the purple and turquoise kick, I punched it up a bit to Elegant Eggplant and Taken with Teal this time.  Much better!  I also added a touch of Green Galore (and Summer Sun for the candle flames)  The sketch is Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge from her blog Fresh & Fun.  I actually rotated it so that I could use my Happy Birthday Cuttlebug embossing folder on the Teal cs. 

The cake and sentiment are from the new SU! Sale-a-Bration set Birthday Whimsy.  This is such a fun little set!  I colored the cake with my Stampin' Write markers.  Its layered on a few colors, using the ticket corner punch on all but the last, and then I added some Bold Brights brads.  I turned the sentiment into a tag and adhered that over the Eggplant ribbon.  Part of the little sentiment is stamped on an itty bitty piece then popped up a bit.

Overall, a pretty simple card except for the massive amounts of layers!  Thanks for visiting!

A Lucky peek ;)

Here's todays peek.  This is a small part of one of the pages for the Seasons track.  Are you guys sick of me torturing you yet?  Hehe.

This page is designed to be an I'm lucky to have you kind of page.  The St. Pattys day elements can be left off very easily and exchanged with a more springy type motif like flowers if you prefer.  But a hint, some pics of you kissing your kids, or your DH, or best yet one of your kids kissing another on the cheek...those would be priceless!  And you don't even have to be wearing green...just change the photos to B/W.  More tomorrow!  -Cyndi

SC160 Forever in my Heart

I'm not totally happy with this card, but I wanted to try a different color combo with the hearts.  I used sketch challenge #160 over at SCS...which is very similar to the one I did of Jen's a few weeks back...SFYTT.

For this I used the new Stampin' Up! sets Forever in my Heart and Polka Dot background.  The colors are Orchid Opulence, Tempting Turquoise, and Lovely Lilac.  I used a bit of Stickles around the edges of the hearts...Frosted Lace and Waterfall.

Another page Peek

ok, so its not just a poeek.  You guys get one full view from each track.  This is one of the pages from the Beach/Vacation track.  Its all CTMH product, shh...I know.  But when Heather P and I started working on it, it was too cute not to use!  (I blame my CTMH addiction on her)

Anyway, I'm doing this from memory so I hope I remember everything.  I used pads and cardstock: Outdoor Denim,  Crystal Breeze, Bamboo and Desert Sand.  The pattern paper is from the level 2 paper pack Majestic Blue   .  The stamp set is New Horizons.  I stamped the "escape" 4 different times, then cut it up and pieced it back together.  The compass is popped up, and the Denim cs behind had been punched out to give it a bit of a border.  Make sense?  Hope you guys like it.  I love the clean color-blocked look.

Mojo Monday 21 and a peek

I got some mojo flowing today!  Don't you love how sometimes an idea just pops in your head then actually comes right together?  When I got this new Spring Break DSP from Stampin' Up! my first thought was "Poochie Frankie"!!  Look at his cute little shorts and his happening board.  He's so cool.  Poochie is from The Cat's Pajamas.  Surf on over to the site and check out all the cool new stamps Alma has offered in Swanky acrylic! 

I started with Julee's mojo21 sketch, you can see it on her blog Poetic Artistry.  I stamped him in Palette Hybrid Noir on Papertrey Stampers Select white cs, then colored him in with my copic markers, picking up the colors from the paper.  The card base is Soft Sky, the next mat Blue Bayou, and the small mat is Old Olive.  The swirls at the bottom of the card are from a CTMH set called "legendary Moments", which is also where the "rebel" sentiment is from.  I couldn't find anything small that said dude, or hang 10, etc.  I may need to rectify that!  The little star on the tag is from SU! Little Pieces.  The ribbon is fancy Pants, and the buttons from my stash.  I'm loving how this cute little card turned out!

But next, my first attempt at Julee's sketch.  My mojo is not so flowing here.  I was working on a page for the Girl track of the fundraiser and wanted to share a peek so I thought I'd just adapt it into a card.

Well, heres the peek at the sets and colors, but it doesn't seem to work as well on the card...theres a lack of focus.  Maybe I just used the wrong sketch for this card.  Don't get me wrong, i love Julee's mojo21 sketch this week, but my sample seems to lack the umph it needs?

Here are the deets anyway: all supplies are Stampin' Up!  cs: Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery, and Whisper White;stamps Always,  Friendship Blooms (I think the name is)  ; Ink:tempting Turquoise and Certainly Celery pads, markers Celery and Taken with Teal;other: tool kit, 3/4" circle punch.

Some LGMs (little green men)

I was in a bit of a whimsical mood today, so I pulled out some of my new Lizzie Anne Designs stamps.  These cute little LGMs are from "out of this World" available at Lizzie Anne Designs website.  Now I can't get Buzz and the LGMs out of my brain..."the uni-mind", bwaaha.

Anywho...the stamps from this set are very fun to color.  The first card uses just 5 of the images...all colored with my copic markers.  Besides the aliens, the ufo (how cute is that??), and the sentiment, both backgrounds are in the set.  I used Whisper White craft on the pumpkin cs and Gable Green on the white cs.  The next card uses a handful more images...the astronaut, flag, sentiment, planet, and moon.  And guess what?  I still haven't inked them all up after all those!  The possibilites are endless.  Lots of cute b-day sayings and more planet/star images as well as a cute rocket.

I also colored the images on this card with my copics.  I love the little craters on the moon!  And the flag...its blank so that you can put all the little words or stars in it.  Too stinkin' cute!  Meredith and Tricia are so awesome!

I hope to play some more with these space dudes soon, but I must get back to scrapping this week!

Yesterday's Scrappy Sketch and some rambling

Thanks to all of my readers who are encouraging me to continue with the scrapbook sketches!  I want to ramble a bit, but first I am giving you a link to my bloggin' buddy Heather...she emailed me last night and is going to join me in my crzy idea!  So, each week when I put up a sketch and a page, Heather Summers is going to have a sample for you  on her blog too!   How cool is that?  I'm trhilled because I love her blog and her fun creations!!  Here is the link to her blog --->Stamp with Heather.  Go check it out, she's already got a fun page up!!

Back to the rambling, for those who want to read a bit.  This is a bit about me and where all the hulabaloo about sketches came from.

I have been scrapping now for almost 12 years.  It all started when I was pregnant with my 3rd child and already had 2 kids under 3 with no scrapbooks to date.  I fell in love instantly and started my addiction with Creative Memories, can you believe it?  THEN I tagged along to this little home party for some unknown company called Stampin' Up!, LOL.  Well, just write me off as a complete addict at that point.  I am actually receiving my 10 year pin at the SU! convention this year.  Unbelievable.

So, I LOVE to stamp, but scrapping is still my passion.  For years, it was hard to combine the 2, especially in my classes, people did one or the other, not both together.  But I kept pestering them and a club was formed.  Now, 10 years later, almost all of my stamping customers are scrapbookers.  They enjoy making the occasional card, but they want more, more, more pages.  I enjoy creating these pages, but, you know, sometimes the mojo just isn't flowing and it would be nice to do a swap or find some samples somewhere.  Thus, I came to Splicoast Stampers years ago.  I'll admt I have lurked there for years until the last 6 months or so.  I still mainly participate in card challenges and such there, because face it, there are so few of is in stamp land who are also avid scrappers.

{I've really enjoyed making more cards this year since Ive been blogging and doing challenges, and am soooo grateful to have found all the wonderful other companies who create rubber and acrylic stamps.  I love them all.  For those of my downline and customers who ask, BTW, I am not abandoning SU!  I still love what they offer, I just want MORE!!}

But, as I was saying.  I love participating in the card sketches, but surely there are others out there who scrap and stamp...I know you are there!  I have thought about this for a while, but wondered if anyone would play along?  And could I find a friend or 2 to be regular at this with me?   I am thrilled Heather "rudely invited herself" as she says on her blog...and I hope to challenge you to come do a page more often than you are used to.  Play along with us.  It'll be great to get caught up won't it?  and maybe you can help my mojo flow as well as all of our readers.  So, please try a page!  It can be as simple or as intricate as you wish.  You can move or add elements if needed.  Don't forget to send me a link to your page so we can all see it!  I look forward to seeing the samples.  I will be back with a new sketch for you next week, and will include a sample as well as the link to Heather's blog for her sample :)

First Scrapbook Fundraiser peek and a sketch!

Lots of gals have card sketches on their blogs, but I don't see many scrapbook sketches.  I've been thinking about it for a few weeks now, and thought why not?  Since I will be in scrapping mode for a while. 

I do go to scrapping websites and blogs too, but most of them don't stamp.  So, I am offering up sketches and layouts which are suitable for stamping scrapbookers.  Let me know what you think.  If anyone wants to play along I will start offering a prize maybe?  For the first sketch I went with a layout that I use a lot...because its simple and allows for lots of photos if desired.  Remember, you can crop many phots to fir in one space, or blow one up, or in my case below, I flipped one of the photos.  I also created a card for you using the left hand page as my sketch to show you the versatility.

Here is my page first:

Peek 1: This is the first page from the boy track for the upcoming Fundraiser!  You can obviously title yours anything you want, but "hugs" worked for my photos.  I actually created the sketch first and then made the page from that.  All supplies are Stampin' Up!  I used Tempting Turquoise as the base and Real Red for the large mats (I pulled these colors out of the paper I chose...East Coast Prep DSP)  My photo on the left didn't work right, so I flipped it and then matted it on Wild Wasabi.  The stars are a combo of Nursery Necesseties, Starstruck,  and Classic Bakgrounds.  I used the large and small star punches for these.  Also used: Jumbo Outline alphabet, Define Your Life, 1/2" circle punch, Bold Brights brads, Red striped Grosgrain, Wild Wasabi Dbl stitched grosgrain, Turquoise and mustard  1/4" grosgrain.  Here is a closeup of the bottom right corner. 

I also made a card for you using the Nursery Necessities set.  I still used the East Coast Prep paper, but chose the sheets without red this time.  I stamped the little boat 3 times: each color on color: Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, and Marigold Morning (yes, its actually Mustard in the paper, but I liked he Marigold better) , cut them up and then pieced them back together.  You'll notice I still used the same basic layout, just leaving off the 3 small circle elements at the top.  My "title" is still there, but hard to see under the watermark...it says "welcome, little one".   Hope you enjoy!  Please play along and show me what you made :)

Quick Club Card

Just a quickie post tonight.  This is one of the cards we made at club this month.  I wanted to use some new stamps from the SU! Spring catty, but all I had were the few from the preview brochure that I had ordered...don't you know that my big box arrived as I was pulling out of the driveway?

So, I used Celebrate Everything, inking up the big celebrate image with my Stampin' Write markers: Pixie Pink, Summer Sun, Green galore, Tempting Turquoise, and Lovely Lilac.  The cupcake is from Big  Bold Birthday.  It is inked with Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise and Summer Sun.  I went over the candle flame with my yellow Spica Glitter pen.  The polka dot background piece was created with one of the small images in the same Birthday set.   Also used were Bold Brights Brads and Tempting Turquoise ribbon.

Come Visit my Island

Here are a few of the photos of the scrapbook room that I promised you.  Some may be just like the ones I posted almost a year ago, but my reading audience has changed and grown since then, and parts of the space have changed.  I'll do a series of photos over a few days for you all.

Today, I will start with my island.  My biggest struggle since I went to the island has been to be able to access all the stuff that I use every day, keeping it organized, within reach, and off my work area.  Thats hard to do with out things hanging on walls and off of shelves.  But I also don't want to clutter the streamlined look of my shelving on the walls either.

So, my biggest gripe has been my punches...over 30 of the whale tale style...yikes...do I have an addiction problem or what?  I have tried about 3 different storage ideas since last May...urgh!  I think I fianlly got it to work.  First up is the top of the island...and NO its not always this clean!

I have lots of room to work, shove stuff to the side, and even share the space with a friend.  I ended up with a nesting of 3 cubbies on top and my SU! stamp pad carousel.  Besides the 48 colors, 6 in colors, and all the basic neutrals I also keep last years in color on top.  (The top of the island itself is about 4x5' I think?)  On the first cubby that faces me are the things that I use the most.  starting from the top: in the pencil cups I keep my scissors, exacto, coluzzle blade,pens,brushes,handheld punches,bone folder,etc.

I also have the button collection.  This was very hard for me to throw them all (well, not all...the SU! and Doodlebug are still separate) in one container.  I liked the color combos in the bags they were in, but ever since I saw Amy's huge jar, I though maybe I'd use them more if they were right here, instead of behind me.

****Note I recommend re-evaluating your stash every few months.  I seems the things that I couldn't live without 6 months ago are now stored behind me on the wall of shelves that I'll show you another day, yet things that were stuffed in baskets are now a priority to have within reach***

Inside the first cubby set I have all of my markers, which is a fav right now.  I ahve all the SU! colors along with blenders, journalers, and retired colors in an expanded box..(Its actually the inside of the marker case that has been rubber-banded to another half of my old marker case).  There are also my copic markers (and room for new ones), glitter pens, glaze pens, gel pens, etc.

Other items: acrylic blocks, stickles, cleaning pad, adhesive caddy, cuttlebug plates, CTMH and Palette pads, and my small SU! punches.  Most of my larger SU! punches are in or on the next cubby to the left.  The last cubby is behind this one and holds the rest of the SU! punches (mainly retired ones) as well as other brands.  The cuttlebug itself is here, and I may set up the sewing machine there too? Also, you may notice a small blue basket...that is where I throw my itty bitty scraps of pattern paper scraps and small ribbon scraps.

Another day I'll move on to other storage areas and items.  Hope this helps!  TFL!  -Cyndi

Mojo Monday, found on Sunday

As always, I am getting around to my challenges a bit late.  There are so many great sketches out there to inspire, but only so much time that I can stamp.  This is actually the firat week I have done Julee's "mojo Monday" sketch.  She always has great ones, but I never get around to them it seems.  I am going to make an effort to do better with hers this year!  You can find her sketch challenge on her blog Poetic Artistry.

I finally inked up what may be my new favorite from the latest SU! catalog...Always.  I have seen so many gorgeous samples with this one that I decided to pull it out next from the new pile.  This weeks Ways to Use it Challenge over at SCS was to emboss.  And like evryone else, I find that I don't pull out the heat gun and the powder very often anymore. 

So, I inked up the bird with Bashful Blue and Lavendar Lace craft spots, then embossed it with Crystal Clear ep twice.  The branch is embossed with Certainly Celery.  I then sponged over the images in a swirling motion with Close to Cocoa classic ink.  The little medalion buttons and sentiment (both from the same set) are done the same way.  I started with Very Vanilla cs for all these pieces.  I used Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip cs for the mats, and Close to Cocoa for the card base. The background Blue piece was stamped off with Bashful Blue using the Linen bg stamp and then I rolled it in Bashful Blue with the So Swirly wheel.  also used were Bashful Blue tafetta ribbon and Close to Cocoa DSP.

WSC31 My "mane" squeeze& some penguins

I have a bunch of cards for you tonight!  First, here's a cute little Valentine I made for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge.  You can see her sketch and card at her blog Fresh & Fun.  The little lion is from CC Designs Little Bit Kits "Love Ya Lots" available over at All That Scraps.  Isn't he just adorable?!  I've been playing with some of these cute sets for the last day or so, and just wait til you see whats up for next month!  I can't wait :)

For this card I used Kraft cardtsock for the card base....a small square card...and and also for the panel that the lion is stamped on.  I wanted to try using my copic markes on something besides white cs.  and guess what?  They still look great!  I colored him in with E21 and E29, and used C3 to add a bit of a shadow around him.  I stamped the A Muse small oval in Real Red, and the heart he is holding is also stamped in Real Red (I used Lizzie Anne Designs L'Amour set large heart then cut it out and trimmed it down a bit) and then edged with copic R29.  That still wasn't quite enough pop, so I added  a bit of my Red Spica glitter pen to the edges of the heart as well.

The sentiment was punched out using Stampin' Up!s circle punches.  I added the small heart from the lion set then covered it with Christmas Red stickles.  The pattern paper is Alpine from KI Memories, and the large red brads are from my stash, maker unknown.

The next card also uses this same cute lion and sentiment.  My friend Heather was over on New Years playing with my new stamps and created this card.  Isn't it adorable?  The lion's little mane is all sparkly with the Gold spica glitter pen, but its hard to see.  The card base for this one is Creamy Caramel, and the layers are Really Rust and Papertrey WHite.  She used the Print Pattern stamp for the background and it looks like she used SU! markers in Rust, Caramel, and Cocoa? but I wasn't watching at the time (I was playing the Wii.  He also has Sakura clear glaze on his nose, and the ribbon is SU! Chocolate (retired) and Caramel.

Next I have 2 penguin cards for you.  The first is from "Little Penguins" Little Bit kits from CC Designs.  I got these back in December but never got around to inking them up til recently.  What was I thinking?  They are so cute!  This set is also available at All That Scraps.  There are 4 different little penguins in the set as well as 2 sentiments.

I needed a birthday card the other day, so I came up with this one, even though I didn't end up using it.  It was a bit too girlie for what I wanted, but I have someone else in mind to receive it later!  I used Gable Green for the card base, Pixie Pink and Green Glaore for the layers behind the DP.  The paper is from Daisy D's.  The birthday sentiment is from SU! Eat Cake set.  Also used: copic markers, Bold Bright brads, ticket corner punch, Apple Green grosgrain ribbon, and Palette Hybrid Noir pad.

The last card is one that I stamped a while back that got lost on my desk in a pile.  The penguin for this card is from "Wintertime Fun" by CC Dseigns.  He is stamped 3 times on Papertrey Stampers Select cardstock and punched out with SU! square punches.  The pattern paper is also from Daisy D's, the same line as from the last card.  The card base and layers are Bazzill from my stash...don't know the names.  I used copic markers to color the images.  another thing I like about them is that I can layer my colors.  If I don't have the color I need....in this case a medium shade of orange...I created it.  I started with a golden yellow and then added light orange over the top.  The resulting color is totally different than either color that I started with.  Very cool!

Life is a Highway

Here is my little guy, doing his thing...driving cars.  He always asks me "when I get bigger will you show me how to drive?"  My oldest should be starting Drivers Ed soon...thats a scary enough thought, but I tell my baby "sure...when you get bigger."

This page was inspired by an adorable little card on Amy's blog called "Are You My Mother".  Click HERE to see that card on her blog Pickled Paper Designs.  I ended up using it for my clubs before I put the pics on it...and then I added more embellishments after the fact. 

The cars and trucks are from the SU! set called "By Land" (retired).  They are all colored on the stamps with SU! markers: Pumpkin Pie, Brocade Blue, Going Gray, and Basic Black.  I used the same colors to stamp the title using Big Deal Alphabet.  The background of the pages is Basic Gray, and the mats are Pumpkin Pie and Brocade Blue.  Some of the blue mats have been Cuttlebugged with the Spots & Dots folder.  Also on this page: Pewter Jumbo eyelets, Gray tafetta ribbon, French Blue(retired) and Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon, Pewter mini brad, and photo turns and clips from CTMH in Autumn Terracotta.

SFYTT One of a Kind

Guess what?  I got my huge box of goodies from Stampin' Up!  My favorite?  The new pattern papers of course ;)

For this card I used the new delicious Berry Bliss DSP.  I love that some of the patterns are very faint so that you can stamp on them to add even more texture to an already interesting print.  Also some of the papers, like the 2 I used on this card, are a slightly lighter shade of the 48 colors...thus giving me me variety!

Both pieces are stamped with images from the new "Boho Backgrounds" set in Purely Pomegranate.  If you love "True Friend"  then you will HAVE to have this set as well as "One of a Kind".  The sentiment and the flowers came from that set.  I stamped the flowers in Purely Pomegranate on Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa.  The little ones are punched out with the new Boho Blossom punch and then layered.  The large floral image has also been layered after the 3 flower images were cut out.  The smallest one was actually punched with the 3/4" circle punch and then adhered into the Build-a-Brad center.

The layout for this card came from Jen's Sketch for You to Try on her blog i{heart}2stamp last Saturday.  I love playing along with her sketches because they are always awseome and sometimes actually a challenge!!  The rest of the ingredients for this card: Close yto Cocoa, Purely Pomegranate, and Pretty in Pink cs;Pretty in Pink tafetta ribbon; Key Tag and 1.25" circle punches; all supplies for this project are Stampin' Up!

Gum Slider Tutorial & the Mane Squeeze

Remember this cute little gum slider from a week or so ago?  It was an idea of the week on Christine's Scraps Chats Newsletter!  Cool!  She has had some requests for a tutorial so here goes!  First though, the details for both the old one and the new one :)

The one on the left uses the Little Bits kit "Love Ya Much" by CC Designs, available from All That Scraps.  The rest of the details can be found on this post--->HERE. 

For the one on the left I used the other cute little Valentine's set by CC Designs, "Love Ya Lots".  She is stamped in Palettte Hybrid Burnt Umber and colored in with copic markers E21, E33, E37, R20, and V12.  The pattern paper is by Cloud 9 Design and is also at  All That Scraps.

Now for the directions:

1. For a Stride gum slider cut cardstock to 3.5" x 6".  Along the 6" side you will score at 2 1/4", 2 5/8", 4 7/8", and 5 1/4".  (This will give you the dimensions of 2 1/4" for the top & bottom, and 3/8" for the sides with an extra 3/4" to close the flap (by making it 6" even you can get 2 pieces out of a 12" width)

2. Adhere stamped panel to the front of the scored piece (one of the wider pieces).  Fold all the scored lines, matching up the middles of the front and back panels and punch a hole near the top through both layers...I used a 1/8" hole punch for narrow ribbon.

3. Pull ribbon through the hole and all the way out, matching the ends so they are the same length.  Insert gum so that the end of the pack is resting on the top of the ribbon and push down into the cardstock, which will pull the ribbon down with the gum.  I then adhered the side shut with mono-adhesive, but Sticky Strip would also be a good choice.

Once the gum is all the way down in and hidden, knot the ribbon.  The gum is pulled out by pulling up on the ribbon.  Pretty simple!  If this still doesn't make sense, try going to the Splitcost Stampers website to see the Slider card tutorial by Beate Johns.  Click ----->HERE.

In the Meadow

I am a week behind on sketch challenges it looks like...this is for Lizzie Anne Designs sketch #10, last week.  I hope to do this weeks too because its a fun one!

I chose to ink up "In the Meadow" of my new LAD stamps first.  I'm not sure why, its not my usual style, but I was in the mood and very drawn to it.  There are a variety of beautiful floral images in this set, and very pretty sentiments as well...this one says "sending you happy thoughts".  I used SU! So Saffron for the card base and then layers of more of my new favorite Bali Breeze DSP.  The circles are cut using my Classic and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities dies in my Cuttlebug.  The flowers are stamped on Whisper White and cut out.  I colored them in with Copics # Y00, Y17, YR20, YR02, and YR07.  The other cardstock mats are Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive...the ribbon is wide grosgrain in Olive, and narrow grosgrain in Apricot and Pumpkin.

FS48 The Ohhhh! Riley Factor

This weeks Featured Stamper over at SCS is one of my blogging friends...Nancy Riley.  She is one very talented and sweet lady!  Run check out her blog --------> iSTAMP.

I chose this card to CASE.  The rules are that we have to change at least 2 things though.  I changed the stamp set and even though I kept the Bali Breeze DSP, I changed the patterns and colors that I used.  Besides the Bali Breeze, found in the new Stampin' Up! Spring catalog, I used Whisper WHite, Rose Red, and Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  The flower and sentiment are from the set "True Friend", from last falls mini and I am sooo glad that it made it to the new catalog!  I

I stamped the flower twice, and popped up the Pumpkin part on Stampin' Dimensionals.  The medallion is also stamped twice and layered.  The scalloped border was created with my Slit Punch.  Also used were Bold Bright brads, Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon, and circle punches.  All supplies are SU!

SC158 Kick Stand Card

Ever since Ked over at SCS posted a "Kick-stand" card on her blog --->Confessions of a Naptime Stamper I have wanted to try one.  I fianlly had an excuse this week as the sketch challenge on  SCS is to make one!  Its basically a full card with the front  being a bit shorter than the back.  Then there is a panel on the front that is adhered kinda like a tent card only upside down? so thats its lined up with the back.  It makes a "kick-stand" so the card stands while open.  Make sense?  The first photo is a kinda side shot so that hopefully you get the visual.

I pulled out my Bali Breeze paper for the first time.  LOVE it!!  I paired it with "Time Well Spent", one of the level 3 hostess sets in the new Spring SU! catty.  The flowers are colored in with my Stampin' Write markers...I used the colors from the paper pack: Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, and Taken with Teal.  The card is actually quite simple-just a lot of coloring and a lot of layers.  And of course some ribbon...I used the wide Olive grosgrain and narrow grosgrain in Tempting Turquoise and Apricot Appeal.  The card base is Old Olive.

MFGD02

Here's another little card using the My Favorite Things set "Icing on the Cake".  There was a challenge to make a card in any shape besides a square or rectangle.  I was thinking circle or triangle, So, why not a party hat?

My hat is folded at the top-there is about a 1" border-then its scored down about a half inch so it will unfold nicely.  The base is textured Soft Sky that was stamped in Cool Carribean with the star background from the set.  I then stamped the frame with Lilac and the cake with my SU! markers in Positively Pink, Lovely Lilac, Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, and Green Galore.  I traced over the green swirl and the purple frame with my Spica glitter pens to add a touch of sparkle.  The bottom layers are just strips of cardstock...including the new scallop border that is all the rage right now.  The sentiment is from the same set and I also colored it with my markers.

Not one of my fav all time cards, but it turned out really cute in person.  Thanks for looking!  -Cyndi

Got Milk? box with directions

Isn't he adorable?  This is the little piggie that I love so much from the CC Designs latest release Love Ya Lots.  The cow idea isn't mine...the credit goes to Tricia of Simply Stamping,  who is also on the ATS Design Team.

So inside the little box is what else?  Cow Tails!  Hehe! He is stamped with Palette Hybrid Burnt Umber and colored in with copic markers.  The pattern Paper is from last years retired SU! collection. The little box is super simple, and I even did a mini-tutorial for you.

Cut a piece of cardstock to 3.5" x 7".

Score at 1", 3", and 5".  This will give you the triangle with the 3 side being 2" tall each.  The extra inch is your flap to glue to the back.  a bit of mono or glue stick will work fine, since it will be tied up with some ribbon.  I used the wide Regal Rose grosgrain and retired narrow Chocolate Chip.  I also tied up the cowtails inside with a bit of ribbon so they wouldn't scoot around.  (I used 5 candies for the perfect fit)

These will be the perfect size little gifts for my girls to give their friends...I guess they don't really do Valentines anymore in Middle School?  But candy is always appreciated by teen girls :)  TFL!

Chill Out!

Here are a couple of the pages that I created over the holidays for my last Disney album.  The first is pics of the kiddos hanging out in the pool at the Grand Floridian (no, we didn't stay there, the grandparents did...but they had a fab pool!!)

The cardstock is bazzill basics from a kit I received a year or more ago...it came from Back porch Memories I think.  The pattern paper is from Lil' Davis Designs...both the striped border and the flowers that were cut out from a different piece.  I added a few tabs for journaling with my Stampin' Up! Round Tab punch and a few corners cut from 2" squares of cardstock.  The title is made from Junkitz stickers...looks kinda like the SU! Rough Edges alphabet huh?

The next page is one that I did for one of the Fundraisers last fall I believe.  I have so many that Ive designed that are stacked up, and I forget which event they are from!  I planned a whole Disney track.  This was one of the really fun ones to create!  And it was sooooo super simple to go back and just pick some appropriate pics and stick them on!  All done in a flash :)  Thats one of the ways I can get a lot of scrappin' done in a short amount of time...pre-done pages.  I don't always use all the one sthat Ive designed...between 20 sets for each Fundraiser (2x yearly), a scrapbook day in SC, and 3 monthly scrapbook clubs...I have a lot of pages!!  One thing I do a lot is to change titles or rearrange my mats from my original design.  SO on the outset I'll give them just a dab of adhesive behind mats to make life easier later!

So, back to the page.  This one is for the Magic Kingdom.  I'll end up with so many pages just from MK, that many have their own layout (such as Frontierland, Buzz, Pooh, etc) but there are always excess.  Those are on this page...the "what do I do with these pics?" pics.  KWIM?  Everthing for this layout is Stampin' Up!  The colors are Real Red, Only Orange, and Yoyo Yellow.  I used Big Pieces, Little Pieces, On the Spot, Sweet Spot, and Whimsical Alphabet...lower and upper.  The letters are traced from the Onboard Simon lower chipboard.  All the mats and elements were inked around the edges with Basic Black to make it all POP :)  I'll share more pages another day.

CKGKD BFF

This card is for one of the sketch challenges on the Gina K Designs forum....for her new release party contest last night.  You can see other cards on the Splitcoast Stampers website.  I changed it a bit since I posted it there...its hard to get something just right when on a crunch schedule!

The phone is from Gina K Designs set "Text Messages".  It has an empty screen and tons of cute little "texts" to put inside.  I colored it with my copics, added some glaze to the screen and number keys with my Sakura Glaze pen, and cut it out.  Its mounted on Purely Pomegrante, whisper White, and Basic Black (all Stampin' Up!)...all run through my Cuttlebug machine with my Classic and Scalloped Nestabilities die cuts.  The next layer is pattern paper by Love, Elsie called "Roxie math class".  Its been in my stash for some time now and I'm just now getting around to pulling it out, but isn't it just perfect for the whole teen thing??

The flower (from the same set) is stamped with Pomegranate, then cut out and layered on 2 circle punches.  The brad in the middle is from Queen & Co I think...its been in my stash for a while too.  I was looking for a black and white brad, but all I had was way too big or too samll.  Oh well.  The ribbon is white from SU! and black from Michael's.  The little "wicked cool" sentiment is from the same piece of Love, Elsie paper.

SFYTT Happy Cupcake Day!

Here's the closeup first :)  I wanted to do jen's sketch since yesterday when I saw it.  I started it last night but couldn't seem to get it just right, KWIM?  I used My favorite Things set "Icing on the Cake" for the background stars, the cupcakes, and the sentiments. 

The cupacakes were stamped on Papertrey Stampers Select cardstock with Palette Hybrid Noir ink.  I colored them in with copics B32, YG06, and YR07.  Then I added Waterfall stickles to the icing and Sakura clear glaze pen to the (orange,hehe)cherries.  The cardstock (Only Orange, Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue, and Green Galore), green ribbon, and punches are all from Stampin' Up!  The brads are bazzill, and the orange ribbon is from Michael's.

Last weeks Color Challenge card: A Beautiful Thing

Remember the other day when I said that I had the 2nd card with the color challege for the week?  well, here's the first one that I forgot to post...silly me. 

The color combo Emily picked was Taken with Teal, Real Red, and Certainly Celery.  Very pretty together!  I used one of the new stamps that demonstrators could preorder from the Stampin' Up! Spring catalog....A Beautiful Thing.  I stamped off the base flowers twice to get the very light color, then used the full power of the same color to go over the top with the outline image.  The Celery panel was rolled with the So Swirly wheel.  The white layer was also rolled with the same wheel then I added some of the itty bitty flowers from A Beautiful Thing in Red.  Also used: Red wide grosgrain ribbon, Bold Bright Brads, corner rounder, stampin' dimensionals.  All supplies SU! except Teal brad.

Lizzie Anne Designs Sketch Challenge

Have I told you guys lately how much I love the challenges everywhere online?  They can really jump start you when you don't know what you are in the mood to do.  This is for Lizzie Anne Designs sketch this week, but I also ended up using the color challenge from SCS again (did I ever post the first card with this combo?)

Anyway, this card uses Funky Floral and Pupcat alphabet.  They can be found at the Lizzie Anne Designs website.  while there you can check out some sneak peeks of all the new releases coming out on Monday.  I can't wait to get my hands on some of these babies!

New CC Designs stamps go live at midnight!

Here's my last sneak peek before the release tonight.  All That Scraps is releasing 2 new sets at midnight tonight (EST)...they are Love Ya Lots and Love Ya Much.  They each have 3 adorable little animals, 3 sayings, the word "valentine" and a small heart.  And the best part is Christine's sets are very affordable and shipping is FREE on any order over $10!!

This has to be my favorite project thus far.  Ive been thinking about it all week, but had to go buy some gum to play with :)  Its a slider card around a pack of Stride gum.  The main piece is Heidi Grace pattern Paper.  The next layers are all Stampin' Up!: Purely Pomegranate, Certainly Celery, and Shimmer White.  The little bunny and the saying are stamped in Palette Hybrid Noir and colored with my copics.  I also added a bit of Sakura clear glaze over her nose and tail and a dab of clear Sakura Gelly roll glitter around her ears.  The small Celery bow was attached with mini glue dots.

Copic Fever!!

Wow!  Everyone has Copic fever!  There are so many of you who haven't given in yet.  Yes, they are VERY expensive...BUT I love them!!  In reality if you get the Ciao version of the markers as a set, they are about the price of a set of Stampin' Up! markers.  Not as many colors (36 vs 48) but you can add the other sets later for a total of 144.

One way to order these is individually vs as a set.  Christine over at All That Scraps has them for sale for only $3.95 each.  Click HERE.  She also has a set of specially picked colors which match the Stampin' Up! colors.  Or, there are other set choices available including sets A, B, C, and D. (the basics)

I will try to give away a couple more another time.  It seems there are many of you who would like to take them for a test drive.  I did that too...which is why I have  acouple of duplicates now, LOL!!

Who wants some copics?

No, its not a full set like Gina's...but if you don't have any and want to give them a try...here you go!

Sneak Peek #3

Only 2 more days to go before All That Scraps releases the 2 new CC Designs stamp sets!  Here's another peek for you.  This cute little piggie is from the set Love Ya Lots.  Isn't he just so stinkin' adorable?!!

Piggie was colored in with my copic markers...I am still trying to get the hang of using the blender.  Am I using the wrong cardstock?  Anywho...I used Palette Hybrid Burnt Umber to stamp him and then colored him in with RV01, RV02, R35, E29, and 0.  I then added some shine to his little piggie nose using my Sakura clear Glaze pen.  He is punched out with the Stampin' Up! scalloped circle punch, then mounted on 2 round tab punches lined up to form a circle.

The card itself is a triangle tri-fold card.  They are perfect to put some valentine candy or gum and since you can tie it up to hold it closed.  The base is SU! Pretty in Pink, then the paper is Rose Red DSP.  This was outlined with my Basic Brown journaling marker.  The yummy thick ribbon is from MAY Arts and is also available at All That Scraps.  Christine stocks some gorgeous ribbon!

I am off to feed a late lunch to my little guy.  My girls are back in school today, but the boys are both on different schedules and don't go back until tomorrow.  And it seems mom had the hardest time getting up this morning...well getting up was ok, but I crawled right back in the bed after they left!  Oh dear.

Embrace Life

I am busy working on some more samples with the new CC Designs sets, but nothing was quite right yet, so I thought I'd post a couple of cards on my desk from a couple of weeks ago.  The first was for a sketch challenge on SCS.  I usede one of the new Stampin' Up! sets...released tomorrow!!...called Embrace Life.  The blossoms are stamped with Basic Brown and then colored with an aqua painter and ink pads: Cameo Coral, Groovy Guava, and Ruby Red.  The background paper is from a new Designer Paper pack called Ginger Blossoms...all of the prints are to die for!  The sentiment for this first card is from Artfully Asian.  The ribbon is Vanilla Tafetta.

The second card was also supposed to be for a challenge...I thought the colors were Elegant Eggplant, So Saffron and Certainly Celery...turns out I have a bad memory and the Celery was supposed to be Wasabi.  Oh well.  It still turned out pretty.

The stamp set used for the main image, sentiment,  and the background are all from the same set used above: Embrace Life.  Again its stamped in Basic Brown and colored with an Aqua Painter and pads.  The image was cut out using my Classic and Scallop circle Nestabilities dies run through on my Cuttlebug.  The sentiment is punched wth a combo of SU! punches: large oval, 1" circle, and designer label. 

I also used Eggplant grosgrain ribbon and the ticket corner punch from SU!  The flowers are covered with the Sakura Clear glaze pen to make them shiny...like Crystal Effects but in a pen...way cool!....but its hard to see in the photo.
